2016 Annual General Report

It has been an exciting year, with many goals and milestones coming to fruition.

We continue to work closely in partnership with Government and Non-Government Organisations to provide various activities and programmes for people of all ages and varying disabilities, to become a little independent.

With the completion of the new classroom, fitted out with modern facilities, this is now home during the school terms to the Distant Education Students. Three students have completed their HSC and have gone on to Further Education and employment.

Our School programme, working with school trainees, has provided casual employment for over twenty students; this in turn has been rewarding, watching the students grow in confidence, build their self-esteem and gain skills in the Retail & Hospitality industry.

Working closely with the Police and the Juvenille Justice System over the past year has been a rewarding experience, with positive outcomes for three young offenders. All the boys have shown respect and gained confidence and self-worth during their time with us. One boy has obtained an apprenticeship, whilst the other boys have returned to part-time education and have become valued team members in their employment here at The Dunn Lewis Centre.

A major milestone has been reached with the external construction of Stage II (The Auditorium), completed to lock-up stage and now ready for fit-out.

Lastly, I would like to personally acknowledge and thank the dozens of Volunteers and Mentors for their time and effort during the year, who play a big role in the successes of the Dunn Lewis Youth Development Foundation.
