Dunn
& Lewis foundation receives tax
benefit
Out
of tragedy, comes something that will live on to
benefit the whole community. Today Senator Helen
Coonan, Minister for Revenue and Assistant
Treasurer announced that donations made to help
build a memorial to Bali bombing victims will be
tax deductible. This is a great outcome,
particularly for the young people, said
Federal member for Gilmore Joanna Gash.
The Bali tragedy affected the whole of
Australia and the Dunn and Lewis Youth
Development Foundation will ensure that the two
young victims from the Ulladulla community,
Craig Dunn and Danny Lewis, and all those who
lost their lives are remembered.
The Foundation will build a complex to serve as
a living memorial, linking generations
together.
Senator Coonan said that, from today,
gifts of $2 or more made to the Dunn and Lewis
Youth Development Foundation will be deductible
for income tax purposes. Legislation to give
effect to this announcement will be introduced
as soon as practicable.
Craig and Danny, the Dunn and Lewis Youth
Development foundation and the entire
Ulladulla
Community
thank The Prime Minister John Howard Senator
Coonan and the Member for Gilmore Joanna Gash
for their time and effort in recognising this
worthy charity, said Gayle Dunn.
Receiving
this charity status is a major starting point to
turn the devastating negative of the Bali
Bombing into a positive outcome for so many
young people who are still coming to terms with
this tragedy that took so many innocent
lives.
My son Craig and his mate Danny were only
starting their adult life. Over time their names
will fade but through the Dunn and Lewis Youth
Development Foundation, their spirit of
Adventure and freedom of choice will remain
entrenched in thousands of young people for
generations to come. said Mrs Dunn.
