Certificate II in Construction

In conjunction with Mission Australia, 16 young people completed this course which includes ongoing work experience at the Foundation work site.

Hip Pocket April

This financial program was delivered in partnership with the YWCA to 98 High School Students, and covered wages, superannuation, budgets, investment, interest and the power of media.

Girls School Retention, Behavior Intervention Program
(4 programs) February, June, August, October

Run by Willow Tree Training, each program targeted 12 girls from Ulladulla High School. The program was run over a 4 week period for young women between the ages of 13-17 years who were at risk of leaving school. It provided gender based education relating to risk taking, and opportunities for participants to develop their own capacity in the following areas; drugs and alcohol, self esteem, body image, goal setting, careers, relaxation, problem solving and safe sex.

Boys School Retention, Behavior Intervention Program
(4 programs) March, May, July, September

Again run by Willow Tree Training, this program was targeted at 12 young men from Ulladulla High School and based on a similar model to the girls program.

Work For the Dole Program

6 participants from Wesley Uniting Employment gained work experience in 2008 through Work For The Dole and 22 participants from Wesley Uniting placed with the Foundation to gain experience over the year.

Work Experience
(5 sessions) March, April, May, June, August

During 2008, 12 boys from Ulladulla High School and 2 boys from Mission Australia gained work experience at the Foundation site.

Work Placement TAFE

Illawarra Institute of TAFE placed 3 community service students with the Foundation for work placement.

Career Mentoring May

The YWCA delivered this program to 27 Ulladulla High School students who were mentored in employment options.

OH&S Courses
(2 courses)

18 participants received their OH&S qualifications on transport and machinery operation in the work place, and a further 16 young people participated in an OH&S course. It is expected that this course will be run repeatedly as the need arises to educate more young people in OH&S for job placements.
